Your local pharmacist is a good place to start when you need health advice. Your pharmacist can provide over-the-counter medication for everyday ailments such as coughs and colds, as well as pain relief for headache, stomach ache and earache.

In addition many pharmacists across Buckinghamshire participate in our flu vaccination program meaning you can receive a jab from them if its more convenient.

They can also help with:

  • Stocking up with over-the-counter medicines for everyday ailments like coughs, colds, aches and pains.
  • Making sure that if you take regular medication you order your repeat prescriptions in good time.
  • Flu vaccinations for those who are not entitled to a free flu-jab and those who are entitled – ask your pharmacist for details.
  • Health and wellbeing advice, including access to stopping smoking, sexual health and alcohol support services

For more information about how a visit to a pharmacist can save you a GP appointment see What your pharmacist can help with on the NHS Choices website.

The General Pharmaceutical Council has produced an online guide for patients and the public  which explains what they can expect from their visit to a pharmacy (updated Dec 2019) – please click here  for more details and to read it.
