Upcoming meeting dates
NHS Buckinghamshire CCG holds meetings of a primary care commissioning committee with an agenda and set of papers published here. (Papers for this meeting, will be published below when they are ready, approximately 1 week before the meeting takes place.)
Their primary purpose is commissioning primary medical services for the registered population of the CCG. The meetings in common are held in public quarterly and are the forums of the organisations to discuss and make decisions related to the provision of primary care in general practice. The general public are routinely invited to attend.
Please note that the extraordinary meeting of Primary Care Commissioning Committee scheduled for 16th May 2019 starting at 4pm to discuss the formation of Primary Care Networks has been deferred, we apologise if this causes you any inconvenience. The next meeting of the Primary Care Commissioning Committee will therefore take place on Thursday 6th June 2019, (see full details below) starting at 3pm as planned. Agenda and papers will be issued in due course.
The Primary Care Commissioning Committee meeting on Thursday 6th June 2019, will be held in the Diamond Room, Ground Floor, The Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. HP19 8FF. If any members of the public would like to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
What are Primary Care Networks?
Primary Care Networks build on the core of current primary care services and enable provision of proactive, personalised, coordinated and more integrated health and social care. Clinicians describe this as a change from reactively providing appointments to proactively providing care for the people and communities they serve. Where primary care networks are in place in other parts of the country, there are clear benefits for patients and clinicians. The establishment of networks is one of the key changes stated in the new Five Year Framework. These networks will influence how primary care is delivered and funded over the coming 5 years and beyond. The requirement is for all patients to be covered under a network contract, commissioned by the CCG and member practices will all sign the contract to become a part of a formal network.
The CCG must ensure that 100% of the population of Buckinghamshire is covered by a Primary Care Network. The CCG will work closely with those setting up the networks to ensure that their configuration and plans will bring about the best possible outcomes for patients and support the sustainability of primary care in the long-term.
